Sergei Mikheyev: among other things, it is [Putin and Trump meeting] a more sober perspective, because it is clear that the policy that Biden and the Europeans had been pursuing all these years is not yielding results. There is also an internal political intrigue in the USA, and this is a “slap in the face” to those who are against him and against his meeting with Putin. Trump wants to show that he is a big politician and is playing a big game. All the reasons are quite clear. To put it in human terms, Trump respects Putin, even though Putin is his opponent. But he doesn’t respect Zelensky and Macron and treats them with disdain, and it is crystal clear. It’s inside Trump and he shows it. There are no concessions here and no attempts to trample on anyone.
As for the Western media, we should understand a simple thing that they are almost all anti-Russian and anti-Trump at the same time. Hence the whole tone of their comments and statements when they talk about the meaning of the meeting: “A ceasefire agreement was expected, but there was no agreement.” Who expected it and when was it expected? This is a pure technique that everyone who deals with the media knows. First, you raise expectations above an achievable level, and then you say, “You see, we all waited, but it didn’t happen!” And it couldn’t and shouldn’t have happened!
As for Trump, they are beginning to say: “Trump is weak, but Putin is a KGB officer”; “Now Putin will say something like that, and Trump will be lost for words, because he does not know anything.” All those cliches are from James Bond films and comics! It’s so stupid and ridiculous, but apparently it influences a significant part of Americans and Europeans. All their comments are understandable – this is a primitive technique. In general, one thing is clear that both sides have met each other halfway, because each has different reasons for this and a desire to achieve some result in order to move forward.
We have our own reasons for going to this meeting, and that’s obvious too. What have Trump and Putin done now? They’ve shown that there is life both apart from Ukraine and after Ukraine. And when we say: “Europe is weak – we’ve defeated the West” – we can defeat the West completely only in the event of a nuclear war. It is important to convey to Europe the idea that there are life options apart from all this. As for Zelensky, summon him and blame it all on him. Because his term is ending anyway, it’s only a matter of time.
